Mr. Laughlin Moves to the High School Side

Mr. John Laughlin joined the Okawville High School teaching staff this July. He teaches Algebra 2, Geometry, College Algebra, Trigonometry, and Calculus.

Mr. Laughlin loves to teach all ages but has worked with younger kids for most of his career. Okawville, so far, has been the only place he has taught. He said, “I have always wanted to teach but didn’t want to go and get another degree.” Mr. Laughlin went to Kaskaskia College straight after high school and then he went to St. Louis for his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. He also got his Master’s degree in Business at Webster University, and he is currently attending the University of West Florida and hopes to attend the University of Indiana for dual credit courses so his students can get dual credit in Math.

He has been a substitute teacher for 10 years and then became an RTI  teacher. Now, he is at the high school level and enjoys it all the time.
