Cross Country Runs Through the Heat

Okawville Cross Country had a meet at the World Shooting Complex. It was the  Sparta JH/HS Invitational. It was held on September 14, 2021.The boys placed 3rd out of 5 teams with 65 points. The girls placed 3rd out of 4 teams with 56 points. The meet was hot and the course had no shade, but everyone had good times.

For the varsity girls, Chloe Tepe got 4th with a time of 21:12, Lydia Luechtefeld got 9th with a time of 21:49, Sarah Cook got 13th with a time of 23:10, Cindy Snyder got 14th with a time of 23:21, Sidney Charles got 22nd with a time of 24:53, Kylie Buehler got 28th with a time of 27:07, and Nora Wood got 29th with a time of 27:12.

For the JV girls, Lexie Todd got 31st with a time of 27:49, Madelyn Epplin got 32nd with a time of 27:58, and Mallory Bening got 43rd with a time of 34:23.

For the varsity boys, Grant Schleifer got 2nd with a time of 16:28, Hayden Shubert got 21st with a time of 20:37, Dominic Perry got 22nd with a time of 20:48, Evan Perry got 25th with a time of 21:44, Joseph Jansen got 26th with a time of 21:50, Thor Gavin got 33rd with a time of 24:24, and Jared Juenger got 34th with a time of 24:27.

For the JV, Matthew Roesener got 39th with a time of 26:32, Hayden Hagarty got 42nd with a time of 28:21.5, Oliver Gaubatz got 43rd with a time of 28:21.8, and Evan Stine got 44th with a time of 29:01.

Both the girls’ and boys’ team will run at Du Quoin on Thursday, September 16th.  They are almost halfway through their season with regionals approaching in a little over a month.  Good luck to both cross country teams as they continue their season!
