Rocket Golf Wins Conference Tournament

On September 2, the Rocket Golf team traveled to Bent Oak Golf Course in Breese, where Mater Dei hosted a strong match. Mater Dei shot a 144 overall, and Belleville West shot a 166 overall. Okawville tied with Nashville for third place out of four teams, with a team score of 167. The Rockets were led by Dillon Teter (Jr.) with a score of 39. 

On September 8, Okawville hosted Mascoutah and Marissa. Okawville came in second place, falling to Mascoutah and beating Marissa. Mascoutah’s team score was 153, and Marissa’s was 216. The Rocket’s team score was 162.  Again, Dillon Teter (Jr.) led the Rockets, this time with a score of 37. 

The next day, the Rockets traveled to Nashville to play in the Nashville Invitational Tournament. The Rockets had a full team score of 169 which got them a top-five finish out of 14 schools. Dillon Teter (Jr.) scored a 41 and secured himself a top 10 individual finish. 

On September 11, the Rockets played at Marissa in the 2-Man Tournament. The Rockets had a great day and came in first place out of six teams. The Rocket’s overall team score was 313. Shane Klasing (So.) and Dylan Clark (Sr.) placed third overall with a score of 71! Klasing shot a 36 and Clark shot a 35. 

On September 16, the Rockets hosted Gibault as the last home match of the season, also known as Senior Night. The seniors this year are Levi Traub, Harrison Borrenpohl, Ashton McGranahan, Cole Wiedwilt, and Dylan Clark. The Rockets’ team score was 157, but it was not enough to beat the Hawks. Gibault finished with a team score of 151. Dylan Clark led the Rockets with a score of 35. 

Held on September 22, the Rockets golfed in the Cahokia Conference Tournament. The tournament included five schools: Okawville, Chester, Wesclin, Sparta, and Red Bud. Out of those five schools, the Rockets brought home the hardware. With a team score of 348 through 18 holes, Okawville won the tournament! The individual scores were: Dillon Teter (Jr.)-82, Levi Traub (Sr.)-84, Dylan Clark (Sr.)-91, Ashton McGranahan (Sr.)-91, Shane Klasing (So.)-95, and Parker Lehde (So.)-98. Levi Traub (Sr.) and Dillon Teter (Jr.) even made the All-Conference team!

On September 29, regionals will be held at Acorns Golf Links in Waterloo. Good luck to the Rocket Golf team in postseason!
