Cross Country Brings Home Conference Hardware

The conference meet was held in New Athens at Okaw Valley Park, on October 16. The weather was 55 degrees, sunny, and with a 12 mph wind. Girls ran at 10:00 a.m., boys ran at 10:45 a.m., and the awards ceremony was held at 11:30 a.m. Okawville was in the medium school division, Illinois Division.

The girls ended up being All-Conference Champions. They had a total of 31 points. Chloe Tepe got 1st with a time of 20:23, Lydia Luechtefeld got 2nd with a time of 21:13, Cindy Synder got 7th with a time of 22:12, Sarah Cook got 9th with a time of 22:27, Sidney Charles got 14th with a time of 24:10, Kylie Buehler got 15th with a time of 24:59, and Nora Wood got 17th with a time of 25:49.

The boys got 3rd out of 5 teams. They had a total of 65 points. Grant Schleifer got 2nd with a time of 16:10, Dominic Perry got 9th with a time of 19:01, Hayden Shubert got 15th with a time of 19:35, Joe Jansen got 18th with a time of 20:36, Nolan Frantz got 21st with a time of 20:52, Thor Gavin got 25th with a time of 21:57, and Jared Juenger got 28th with a time of 23:20.

Several members of the teams received All-Conference honors:   Grant Schleifer, Dominic Perry, Chloe Tepe, Lydia Luechtefeld, Cindy Snyder, and Sarah Cook.

Coach Val Tepe said, “I am very proud of everyone’s times and placings in this meet. The weather was perfect for running, and we even had a couple of people PR for the season. I can’t wait to see what we bring to regionals!”
