ACES Are Ready to Start Acing

Briley Rhodes, Co-Editor-in-Chief

The ACES team is an organization here at Okawville High School that competes against students from all over the state on various subjects. These subjects include English, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, and many others. In most cases, these tests take place at different colleges, but due to the CoronaVirus pandemic, last year’s test was taken at the school on a computer.

To get on the team each student wanting to join had to take two practice tests, and then the students were separated into a JV and Varsity team. Members of the JV team include Max Snyder, Laura Cook, Aidan Anderson, John Schaller, Claire Dulle, Sarah Cook, Sidney Charles, Caleigh Friedrich, Calvin Maynard, Bella Welch, Thor Gavin, Cameron Radford, and Oliver Gaubatz. This year’s Varsity team consists of Gracie Nelson, Zoe Todd, Tyson Thompson, Olivia Wiese, Ace Bruck, Joseph Jansen, Cheyenne Ellerbusch, Kylie Buehler, Briley Rhodes, Grant Schleifer, Jared Juenger, Hannah Miller, Annie Cullie, and Nora Wood.

Over the past few years, the ACES team has been very successful in bringing home 1st in regionals since 2017. Throughout these years, the team has placed second in sectionals a couple of times as well. To prepare for these tests the team studies throughout the weeks leading up to the competition to make sure they are sharp and ready for the competition. Good luck ACES and have a successful season!
