Rockets Big Senior Night Win Over Carlyle

Alayna Kraus, Staff Writer

Following the OHS Boys Varsity Basketball squad’s good win Monday night against Sparta, they turned right around and defeated the Carlyle Indians at home for Senior Night on Tuesday, February 15th. They started the five seniors on the team which consisted of Cole Wiedwilt, Wilson Welch, Evan Miller, Levi Traub, and Ethan Riechmann. These starters came out strong putting up multiple points and coming out on top at the end of the first quarter. However, they did not stop there.

They kept fighting hard on both sides of the court, which led them to multiple defensive turnovers and a big game offensively too. Lots of the seniors stepped up and took leadership of the game when needed, while the points were spread evenly throughout the board.

The boys ended up putting up a 76 point game, which led them to a win with a final score of 76-67. This win was a huge accomplishment for the Okawville Rockets as they had lost to the Indians 44-29 in a previous matchup earlier in the season.

During the ceremony, the two senior cheerleaders: Cindy Snyder and Izzy Rader, and five senior pep band members: Alyssa Gavin, Kylie Langenstein, Gracie Nelson, Jacob Segelhorst, and Sydney Tebbe, were also honored for their careers as Okawville Rockets.
