Lillian Helbig, JH Staff Writer

Jr. High Volleyball has officially started. The 8th-grade players for the 2021-2022 season are Emma Borgmann, Abby Brennfleck, KateLyn Borrenpohl, Kayla Crouch, Jaelyn Going, Lily Helbig, Carly Schmidt, Caroline Tepe, Rylan Senior, and the manager is Eva Tooley.

The 8th graders opened their season playing St. Rose on February 1. They ended up losing but it was a close game. Their next game was that following Monday vs Lebanon and the Rockets took the win. Then, they played Tuesday against Aviston and lost. Also, that week 8th grade played Germantown and won. Thursday, February 10 the Jr. Lady Rockets took on Bartelso and lost but it was a close game.

The Jr. Lady Rockets again played Nashville on Monday, February 14, and lost in 2 matches. They had a great start, but couldn’t pull off the win. February 15th the Jr. Lady Rockets played All Saints Academy and lost their game in 2 matches. Their next game was supposed to be Thursday, February 17th but due to weather conditions, they canceled it.

I asked Abby Brennfleck if she was glad the volleyball season has started up, and how she thinks the season will go? “I’m very excited that our season has begun because it gives me a chance to get out of the house and it helps me relax,” said Brennfleck.  “I’m also glad it has started because it is something I love to do and my family really enjoys watching me. Our season has had a little rocky start, but I think with some practice we will be pretty good by the end of the season. I see good potential for our 8th-grade team with a little more practice.”  Good luck to the Jr. Lady Rockets as they continue their season!
