Timepiece and LaunchPad Win Several Awards at Journalism Competitions

The Okawville Timepiece Staff and LaunchPad competed in the 71st annual SISPA competition. SISPA is held at SIUC every year. SISPA stands for Southern Illinois School Press Association. They both won many competitions throughout the day. 

At SISPA, Timepiece and LaunchPad took home many awards. Alyssa Gavin won first place in New/Feature Photo. 2nd place in Homepage Design went to  Jared Juenger and Briley Rhodes. 1st place in Video Story was won by Hannah Miller, Briley Rhodes, and Ellie Frederking. 1st place in Theme Development was Logan Jung and Alyssa Gavin. 3rd place in Copy Editing was awarded to Kylie Buehler. Bennett Krohne won first place in Sports Writing and Macie Staley received second place. 1st place in Yearbook Sports Writing was won by Jared Juenger. 3rd place in Ad Design was awarded to Paige Riechmann. Lexie Todd was rewarded with a Walsworth attendance prize

In the Illinois Journalism Education Association, which is a state-wide yearbook contest for 2021 books, Okawville was in division 1 with an enrollment under 225. Okawville won 3rd place in overall general excellence, honorable mention in copywriting, 2nd place in divider pages, 2nd place in graphics, 3rd in layout and design, 3rd in theme development, and 2nd in coverage of the year.
