As the weather starts to warm up, the Rocket Baseball team starts to prepare for their 2022 season.  This season the Rockets are welcoming a new coaching staff.  Coach Beau Barkau is the new head coach.  Barkau was the prior JV coach in years past.  Cameron Obermeier returns as an assistant coach and is joined by Payten Harre, an Okawville graduate of 2018.  Rick Gaebe and Dan Kramer will coach the JV team.  Gaebe is a past varsity head coach and junior high baseball coach.

The Rockets’ season was supposed to kick into gear starting last Saturday, March 19 against Rockford Lutheran at Nashville High School, but was canceled to due rainy weather.

Okawville will play four games this next week.  The team traveled to Mater Dei on Monday, March 21.  The Rockets struggled at the plate, as the team had 2 hits the whole game.  Okawville came up short 10-0 in 6 innings to the Knights.  The Rockets will travel to Trico on Tuesday, March 22.

The Rockets home opener will be played on Wednesday, March 23 against Valmeyer.  The Rockets will then host Marissa the following day March 24.  The high school baseball season is a very jam-packed and busy schedule.  Good luck to the Rockets as they start a new season!
