Lady Rockets Start Season With Two Wins

The Okawville High School softball team opened their season with a game at Centralia on Wednesday, March 16. Coach Thoel got her and the team’s 1st win of the season. The final score was 12-5. The Lady Rockets fell behind in the first inning 2-0. They came around in the 2nd inning, and the bats were hot. Hettenhausen started as pitcher, with 5 strikeouts and 4 walks. Kaylyn Cragen came in for relief in the 5th inning and finished the game out with 1 strikeout and no walks. 

The Lady Rockets’ second game and second win last week was the home opener vs. Lebanon. Cragen started the home opener on the mound. Cragen had 4 strikeouts and no walks in 6 innings. Maggie Sawicki came in relief in the 7th inning. The final score of the game was 6-1 with Lady Rockets on top. 

The Lady Rockets will play this week Monday, March 21 at Mater Dei, Tuesday, March 22 at Trico, Wednesday, March 23 vs. Valmeyer, and Thursday, March 24 vs. Marissa. All games will start at 4:30 unless otherwise changed.
