The Okawville Rockets Track and Field team is having an excellent season so far. The Rockets’ first meet took place at the Colombia Open on Monday, March 21, 2022. The girl’s team took home second place and the boys secured an impressive fourth place considering their small team of five runners. The Rockets competed against Colombia, New Athens, Waterloo, Roxana, and Gibault.

The Redbud meet occurred on March 23, 2022, with some cold and rainy weather conditions. The team’s times were not ideal, but they still managed to do well against the competition. The girls’ team earned first place, and the boys’ team snagged third. The teams competed with Redbud, Wesclin, Dupo, Carlyle, Lebanon, and New Athens.

Okawville is looking forward to a promising season with more meets yet to come.  “We are very excited at seeing so many young runners compete with bigger high schools and other older athletes in such an exciting way. Our junior and senior athletes continue to be role models and compete with their usual Rocket pride,” says Okawville High School track coach, DeAnna Holm.
