Addition of Third Kindergarten Teacher

Emma Hokeness, JH Staff Writer

If you haven’t heard, Okawville Grade School now has three kindergarten classes. Mrs. Megan Holthaus has taken on the job of being our third kindergarten teacher. This is Mrs. Holthaus’ twenty-first year of teaching. She attended high school at Rochelle Township High School in Rochelle, IL. After graduation, she majored in English at Northern Illinois University. Following graduating college, she taught at All Saints Academy in Breese, IL until making the switch to Okawville this year.

I interviewed Mrs. Holthaus about why she decided to become a teacher. She said, “I love kids! I like that every day is different and that every year I can get a fresh start.” She also likes being a kindergarten teacher because she can add learning to play.

In her free time, Mrs. Holthaus enjoys reading, shopping, running, and yoga. Mrs. Holthaus is married to Chris Holthaus and has a 17-year-old son who is a senior at Mater Dei and a 14-year-old daughter who is a freshman at Mater Dei.
