Mrs. Hagarty Moves to RTI

Megan Priester, JH Staff Writer

This year, Mrs.Hagarty made a big switch from being a former 4th-grade teacher here at Okawville for seventeen years, to now working in the RTI department. Mrs. Hagarty is very familiar here at Okawville, where she attended high school. She later went on to play college softball. After finishing her college softball career she went on to become a teacher, which she has been doing for twenty-one years. Her job here at Okawville has included teaching math and reading from 4th through 8th grade.

I interviewed her about her new RTI position. She responded, “I love my new job where I get to see new faces and previous students every day.” She loves helping kids and watching them succeed. Before Mrs.Hagarty started teaching here, she taught at Emge in Belleville. When she first started teaching she was 21 years old. She says, “I knew that I would continue teaching after my first year. I knew it was the right fit for me. I am always amazed at how much I learn from my students.”
