Lady Netters Take Second at New Athens

On August 26-27, the Lady Netters traveled to New Athens to play in the New Athens Labor Day Tournament. These girls put on a phenomenal performance where they received second place overall! This is the farthest our Lady Rocket volleyball team has made it in this tournament! 

August 26, 1st pool play game:

They played Gibault Catholic in the first game and took them into 3 tough matches. The Lady Netters lost the first match 21-11, won the second match 21-17, and won the third match 15-10. 

Maci Wolf had an outstanding game, leading the team in kills, contributing 9 out of the team’s total of 21. Kylie Going, Ady Harre, Jordyn Heckert, and Rae Obermeier each had an ace, accounting for the team’s total of 4 aces. Ady Harre led the team in blocks, contributing 2 of the team’s 4 total. Harre also led the team in digs, contributing 9 of the team’s 28. Kylie Going and Rae Obermeier led the team in assists. Going contributed 11 and Obermeier contributed 9 out of the team’s 21. Megan Rennegarbe and Madi Wienstroer led the team in serve receives. Rennegarbe accounted for 14 and Wienstroer accounted for 11 of the team’s 35. 

August 26, 2nd pool play game:

Their second game was played against Lebanon, in which they beat them in two sets. They won their first match 21-14, and their second match 21-10.

The kills were spread across the board this game, with 11 kills total. Megan Rennegarbe, Maci Wolf, Jordyn Heckert, and Madi Wienstroer each had 2 kills. Camy Wiedwilt, Ady Harre, and Rae Obermeier each had 1 kill. Kylie Going, Ady Harre, and Megan Rennegarbe led the team in their total of 13 aces. Going contributed 4, and Harre and Rennegarbe each contributed 3. Rae Obermeier and Jordyn Heckert had an assisted block. Kylie Going and Ady Harre led the team in digs. They each had 5 digs out of the team’s total of 20. Kylie Going led the team in assists, accounting for 7 out of the team’s 11. Madi Wienstoer led the team in serve receives, contributing 6 out of the team’s total of 25. 

August 27, 3rd pool play game:

The girls had an amazing run against Wesclin for their third game, in which they won in two matches. They won the first match 21-13 and the second match 21-16. 

Jordyn Heckert led the team in kills, accounting for 6 out of the team’s 16. Ady Harre and Megan Rennegarbe led the team in aces. Harre contributed 3 and Rennegarbe contributed 2 out of the team’s 7. Maci Wolf accounted for the team’s only block in that game. Madi Wienstroer and Megan Rennegarbe led the team in digs. Wienstroer led with 8 and Rennegarbe trailed with 7 of the team’s 30. Kylie Going led the team in assists, contributing 6 of the team’s 11. Madi Wienstroer led the team in serve receives, accounting for 10 of the team’s 25. 

August 27, 4th pool play game:

Their fourth game was played against the New Athens Yellow Jackets. The Lady Netter beat them in two sets, winning the first match 21-13 and the second  21-17. 

Jordyn Heckert, Camy Wiedwilt, and Maci Wolf led the team in kills. Heckert contributed 4, and Wiedwilt and Wolf both contributed 3 of the team’s total of 13. Megan Rennegarbe and Madi Wienstroer led the team in aces. Rennegarbe accounted for 3 and Wienstroer accounted for 2 of the team’s 9 total. Jordyn Heckert had one solo block for the game. Madi Wienstroer led the team in digs, accounting for 5 of the team’s 25. Megan Rennegarbe, Annie Culli, Ady Harre, and Jordyn Heckert each had 4 digs to contribute to the team’s total. Kylie Going led the team in assists, contributing 8 of the team’s total of 13. Madi Wienstroer had over half of the team’s 24 serve receives, accounting for a whopping 14 total by herself! 

August 27, Championship Game:

The Lady Netters played in the championship game against Trico. They went into three very tough matches but unfortunately lost in the third and final match. They lost the first match 21-19, won the second match 21-19, and lost the third match 22-20.

Jordyn Heckert led the team in kills, contributing 10 of the team’s total of 23. Jordyn Heckert and Rae Obermeier led the team in aces, each contributing 4 of the team’s 12. Camy Wiedwilt, Megan Rennegarbe, and Maci Wolf each had a solo block, making up the team’s 3 total. Madi Wienstroer led the team in digs, accounting for 19 of the 45 total. Kylie Going led the team in assists, contributing 13 of the team’s total of 22. Madi Wienstroer and Megan Rennegarbe led the team in serve receives. Wienstroer contributed 32 and Rennegarbe contributed 19 of the team’s 61.

The Okawville Lady Netters had a great tournament overall! They were presented with a second-place plaque, and one of their players, Jordyn Heckert, was presented with a medal for making the All-Tournament Team!
