Saturday, September 24, the freshman volleyball team had a tournament in Pinckneyville. Their first game was at 8 vs DuQuoin and their match went into 3 sets. After a long battle, Okawville took the loss. Their next match was against Marion at 11. It was a close game, but Marion took the win by 2. Then at 1, the girls played Anna-Jonesboro and took the win by 6.

Okawville advanced to play for 5th place against Red Bud. The Red Bud game was intense. After multiple timeouts and good serve receives and serves, Okawville was able to take the win.

The following week they played Chester and Red Bud. In both of those matches, they lost, but the games were close. Then, Okawville played Chester again on October 6th at Chester and Okawville lost. On Columbus Day they played Alton Marquette and won. Okawville’s pink-out game was on October 11th vs Wesclin. During that game, Okawville won in 3 sets. Later in the week, the volleyball team played Sparta for senior night and beat them.

The freshman team played in the freshman tournament at Wesclin and got 4th place. Their first game was against Roxanna and they won in 3, then they played Central and lost by 2 in 3 tough matches. After that game, Okawville played in the 4th place match against Weclin and Okawville lost in 3. Okawville’s last game was against a tough team, Carlyle. Okawville ended up losing in 2 sets. I asked Emma Borgmann, “How do you think the season went?” She replied, “It was a decent season, but we made a lot of progress throughout the year.”
