OHS Clubs Volunteer at New Local Food Pantry

Ellie Frederking, Staff Writer

A few clubs have decided to take on a new act of community service with the addition of a food pantry in Addieville. Affiliated with the St. Peter’s UCC church, they added another food pantry near our area in addition to the one that is present in Irvington. Clubs at OHS were asked if they would like to help give out food to people in need throughout the school year, and without a doubt, many clubs decided to step in and help out. Clubs including Spanish Club, FCA, and NHS all decided to lend a helping hand to distribute food to cars every Friday as people would come and wait for full nutritional meals. This little act of service helps the organizations that put this together and spend hours getting everything ready to go for the people once they show up. No matter what needs to be done in the community, clubs in Okawville are always willing to step in and help out whenever and wherever it is needed.
