Okawville Celebrates Life Drug Free

Lexy Borrenpohl

Both the Okawville Grade School and Okawville Jr./Sr. High School celebrated Red Ribbon Week. Celebrate Life, Live Drug-Free was the theme for this year. Beginning on October 21st, Red Ribbon Week provided daily advice to all students to encourage a drug-free and active lifestyle. Every day of Red Ribbon Week has a different theme to correspond with the information offered on that day.

The nation’s largest and oldest drug prevention campaign, Red Ribbon Week, reaches millions of youth every year. The purpose of Red Ribbon Week is to raise awareness of the risks associated with drug usage among the general public. The program aims to get people interacting with one another and working on projects that will aid in re-establishing a sense of belonging and shared purpose. This event is the perfect opportunity for people and communities to come together and publicly reject drugs.

Students from throughout Okawville enjoyed dressing up while learning how to lead drug-free lives!
