FFA Brings Home Fifth at Quizbowl

On Wednesday, October 12th, the 1st year FFA members traveled to Red Bud High School to compete in Quizbowl. The team consisted of 7 members. There were two sophomores that competed: Aidan Anderson and John Schaller and 5 freshmen: KateLyn Borrenpohl, Lily Helbig, Ryan Schwab, Joey Kinzel, and Braxton Rennegarbe. Two weeks before the contest, the teams started preparing for Quizbowl. They were given a packet of questions to study and look over.

It was also a double-elimination tournament. The team competed against Marrisa first, but they lost and moved to the losers’ bracket. They played Freeburg next and gained their first win. After that, they took on Lebanon. Okawville had taken another win. They had another game before the 5th place game and they faced Marissa again. This time it was a closer game, but they still lost. Marissa moved on to the 3rd place game. Okawville played Waterloo for 5th and took another win. After all the games were done, they handed out plaques and awards.
