Resilience has been the core value for this school year. To instill this value into the students, the principal has decided to award students who show acts of resilience. The Resiliency Award is awarded to a different student each month who was nominated by his/her peers. The award is given to a student who shows true character and resilience within school and home. Paige Kolweier was the first student to receive this honor during the school year. The recipient received this award because she showed perseverance during the Wheat Festival. The day before the parade, Paige sprained her ankle and had to wear a boot. Not wanting to let her classmates and school down she managed to march the whole parade on this injury. This act of resilience is what led her to receive this award. “I was surprised and honored that they gave it to me. I was also very happy they noticed the work I was putting into my performance and that I was recognized for it” stated Paige Kolweier.
