On Wednesday, January 31, the 1998-1999 Lady Rockets were recognized for their excellent season after 25 years. Players who attended were recognized and announced to the crowd. Then the current Lady Rockets got to high-five the 1998-1999 Lady Rockets.
These Lady Rockets went 33-2 and placed third in the state for class 1A, they were also champions of the Freeburg Round Robin Tournament, The Mascoutah tournament, and the Highland tournament. Then moved on to the postseason where they won against Woodlawn and Nashville at the Trico regional, they then moved on to Nashville where they beat Freeburg and Carlyle.
At super-sectionals, they played at West Frankfort against Massac County where they took the win and moved on to state in Bloomington. In the quarterfinals, the Lady Rockets beat Seneca. In the semifinals, the Lady Rockets faced Nokomis where they lost.
The players included Kim Lintker, Marci Coryell, Brook Langenhorst, Kristen Miller, Crystal Davidson, Jamie Brockmeier, Tera McCauley, Jamie Buss, Kelsey Huelsman, Kristen Turner, Kristen Lehde-Taylor, Natalie Shubert, and Kelly Schomaker. The team’s managers were Stacy Friedrich, Erin Weiser, Valarie Sharpe, DeeDee Ross, and Shana Stricker. They were coached by Head Coach Kathy Lanter and Assistant Coach Carrie Schneider.
