The school year has barely started and our Timepiece staff is already getting to it to make our yearbook perfect. Thanks to Jostens, the Timepiece staff was able to listen to some of the most talented names in the world of yearbooks. We had a total of 12 students go September 11th to Carterville High School, including 2 Junior High and 10 high school students. There was one session that covered all the basics of how to make a yearbook. The students also got to partake in two activities. For one of them, they recreated a man out of just paper. For the other one, they had a large group of students who had to pass a hula hoop around in a circle without unlinking their arms.
One of the yearbook members who went, Alexis Jarden, rated her experience on a scale of one to ten and rated it an 8/10. Something she said she took away from it was, ”Something the speaker said that stuck with me is whenever she was talking about paying attention to detail after we made are paper man. It showed me and the other staff members who attended the trip that sometimes having more attention to detail is a lot better than really having none.” Alexis also stated she was “feeling pretty good about all of the stuff we had learned, and extra motivated to get more stuff done within this year’s yearbook.” Overall, the people who went to the camp had a lot of fun, and it helped all the members who were able to go get a better understanding of what they were going to be doing throughout the year.
