The high school boys’ golf team has been busy these past weeks. On Tuesday, September 10, the boys played at home against New Athens. Okawville, as a team, beat New Athens, shooting a 170. Braylen Turner shot a 40, Parker Wiese and Teren Schwankhaus shot a 42, Hayden Hientz shot a 47, Bennett Schuetz shot a 50, Caleb Hagarty and Reid Hemann shot a 52, and Jack Schuetz shot a 57. Braylen Turner got 1st place overall.
Then, on September 11, the boys played again at home against Breese Central, Mascoutah, Red Bud, and Marissa. Okawville, as a team, won, shooting a 162. Teren Schwankhaus shot a 37, Parker Wiese shot a 40, Hayden Hientz shot a 42, Braylen Turner shot a 43, Caleb Hagarty shot a 52, and Bennett Schuetz shot a 57. Teren Schankhaus won the match, shooting a 37.
On September 12, the boys played at Nashville for their Nashville Invitational Tournament. Okawville got 9th out of 14 teams. Parker Wiese shot a 39, Teren Schankhaus shot a 41, Hayden Hientz shot a 45, Braylen Turner shot a 52, Caleb Hagarty shot a 54, and Bennett Schuetz shot a 55. Parker Wiese placed 4th.
On Monday, September 16, the boys played at Marissa against Marissa and New Athens. The boys got 1st, shooting 186. Parker and Braylen shot a 45, Teren shot a 47, Hayden shot a 49, Caleb and Bennett shot a 52, and Reid shot a 53.
On September 19, the boys played at home against Gibault and tied shooting a 166. Hayden shot a 39, Parker shot a 41, Teren shot a 42, Braylen shot a 44, Caleb shot a 49, and Bennett shot a 59. The boys have been doing well. Good luck for the rest of the season!
The high school girls’ golf team has also had some busy weeks lately. On Monday, the girls played at Carlyle and shot a 179 as a team. Kaylie Behreman shot a 40, Bella Muniz shot a 42, Lilly Cragen shot a 47, Kaylyn Cragen shot a 49, Lily Helbig shot a 57, and Rylan Senior shot a 59. Kaylie got 2nd place overall.
Then, on Tuesday, September 10, the girls played at Gibault and beat them, shooting an 181. Bella Muniz shot a 42, Lilly Cragen shot a 44, Kaylie Behreman shot a 45, Kaylyn Cragen shot a 50, Delaney Kuhn shot a 54, and Lily Helbig shot a 71.
On Wednesday, September 11, the girls played in Nashville against Nashville and Breese Central. Okawville got 2nd out of 3 teams. Okawville shot a 188. Bella shot a 45, Kaylyn shot a 46, Kaylie shot a 47, Delaney shot a 50, Lilly C. shot a 55, and Lily H. shot a 60.
Then, on Thursday, September 13, Okawville played at Centralia and beat Centralia and Vandalia. Okawville, as a team, shot a 184. Bella shot a 42, Kaylie and Delaney shot a 47, Kaylyn shot a 48, Lilly C. shot a 50, and Lily H. shot a 54. Bella got 1st overall.
On September 17, the girls played at Okawville against New Athens and Carlyle. Okawville got 2nd shooting a 195. Bella shot a 45, Kaylie shot a 48, Lilly C. and Delaney shot a 51, Kaylyn shot a 54, and Lily H. shot a 57.
On September 19, the girls played at Okawville against Mater Dei, Marissa, and Red Bud. Okawville got 2nd, shooting a 173. Bella shot a 39, Kaylie shot a 40, Kaylyn shot a 45, Lilly C. shot a 49, Delaney shot a 50, and Lily H. shot a 55. This match was also Senior Night. Okawville has one senior, which is Kaylyn Cragen. Kaylyn Cragen has played golf all four years of high school. We wish her the best of luck in the future!
On September 20, the Okawville Lady Rockets hosted their invitational tournament. Okawville placed 6 out of 15 teams. Kaylie shot an 80, Bella shot an 82, Lilly C. shot a 92, Lily H. shot a 99, Kaylyn shot a 103, and Delaney shot a 105. Kaylie and Bella both placed in the tournament. The golf team has been pushing through the busy weeks and doing good. Good luck with the rest of the season!
