Two Rockets placed individually at cross-country sectionals, landing them a spot at state. After months of training, Sidney Charles and Caroline Tepe ran at the state cross-country meet. It was held at Detweiller Park in Peoria on Saturday, November 9. They ran against 255 of the state’s most talented runners. The main challenge was how crowded the meet was because there were hundreds of competitors and thousands of fans. It was still a great day for running, though, with the weather being chill and without rain.
Caroline Tepe placed 41st with a time of 18:30. She is continuing her streak of competing at state for the third time. Caroline Tepe also had a strong season this year. For example, she placed first in multiple meets and individually at sectionals.
This summer, Sidney Charles made it her goal to make it to state in November. After a successful season, she made her goal by placing individually at sectionals. At state, Sidney Charles placed 179th with a time of 20:44. Congratulations to Caroline and Sidney, and great season everyone!
