Both cross country teams had an amazing year. The boys team advanced to sectionals for the first time in school history. The girls advanced as well it being their 3rd year in a row. Only one lone runner advanced to state. Madelyn Tepe of the Lady Rocket cross country team had a spectacular run at the sectionals in Benton, Illinois which enabled her to have the chance to run on the Peoria state course. On the morning of November 4th, 2017 Madelyn Tepe prepared to run in the cross country 1A State Finals. As a senior this was a huge deal for Madelyn, her last chance to make her mark. She did just that by running an exceptional time of 19:16 and getting 69th place. The whole school and community were very proud of Madelyn and her run. Her young team members hope to follow in her footsteps in the upcoming years and make their mark on the Okawville cross country teams.
