New Season for Junior Rocket Baseball

Bennett Krohne, Staff Writer

The Okawville Jr. High boys baseball season has kicked off and the Jr. Rockets have started the season with an 0-3 record. They hosted their first game against the Freeburg Midgets. The Rockets were hanging on 4-0 until the Midgets pulled away with a 9-0 victory. Their second game was also at home. They hosted the Wesclin Warriors. The Rockets were winning 3-2 in the second inning, but the Warriors were able to get a 4-3 lead in the third. The Rockets battled but fell to the Warriors 11-3. Despite the loss, the Rockets had an awesome pitching performance by Shane Klasing who had 9 strikeouts. Their most recent game was at Mascoutah, against the Indians. The Rockets swung the bat well, but the Indians hit great and short-gamed the Rockets. The final score was 10-0. The Rockets may be off to a rough start, but the first three games have been against some pretty tough opponents. So hopefully the best is yet to come!
