Third place finish at Du Quoin volleyball tournament

On Saturday, September 7, the Lady Rockets Varsity Volleyball team played in the Duquoin Tournament. They stayed close with Herrin their first game but lost both matches, 25-22 and 25-10. The next game they took on a great battle with Sparta winning both matches, 27-25 and 25-19. After that, they went into three great, competitive matches with Goreville. They lost the first match 25-20, won the second match 25-14, and won the third match 15-9. Then they played two tough matches against Du Quoin but lost. The first match being 25-22 and the second match, 25-10. Lastly, they went into three very exciting, intense matches with Elverado for third place. They won the first match 25-23, lost the second match 25-20, and won the third match 17-15. Anna Schmersahl and Marlee Frederking received the coin-toss chips as a reward. Anna received hers for always showing positivity on and off the court, and Marlee received hers for convincing the referees about a call. The Lady Rockets’ record for Saturday was 3-2 and had an overall great tournament!
