The Lady Rockets softball season has just begun. The program is looking a little different with the hiring of two new coaches. One of them is an assistant coach and the other is the JV coach. The assistant coach is Scott Cragen and the JV coach is Michael Barth, who was just hired as the high school PE teacher in January.
The team consists of twenty-three girls. The senior players include Maggie Sawicki, Ady Harre, Alayna Kraus, Tyne Moore, Kylie Going, Lexy Borrenpohl, Madi Wienstroer, Raelyn Obermeier, and Taylor Hettenhausen. The juniors include Camy Wiedwilt, Kaylyn Cragen, Laura Cook, and Sarah Cook. The sophomore players includes Rylan Senior, Kate Borrenpohl, and Lily Helbig. Lastly, the freshman class includes, Jilien Harre, Kenley Hackstadt, Addi Hasheider, Brynn Rhodes, Schae Juenger, Cadee Wiedwilt, and Lilly Cragen.
I interviewed Coach Travis Kuhn on how he feels the softball season will go. He answered with, “This softball season will be led by twelve upperclassmen. Most of them have a ton of varsity experience. We will be trying to sprinkle in a few underclassmen. We should be looking at a successful season.” The Lady Rockets’ first game will be against the Centralia Annies on Wednesday, March 13th at Centralia. Good Luck to the Lady Rockets this season!
