The Okawville High School Volleyball team started their second week of the season playing Salem High School on September 3, 2024. The Freshman team defeated Salem in 3 sets, losing 17-21 in set 1, winning 21-15, and winning the 3rd set to win the game 15-12. The JV team also defeated Salem in 3 sets, losing 12-25 in the first set, winning 25-20 in the second set, and winning 15-7 in the third set, to win the game. The Varsity team unfortunately lost to Salem in 2 sets. The first set was a small struggle losing 18-25, but the Lady Rockets put out a lot more effort in the second set losing 22-25. During the game, the Lady Rockets served very well having aces from 3 of the players and scoring 17 points off serves. The Lady Rockets took many hitting attempts but only had 16 kills. At the end of the day, the Lady Rockets played hard and played home vs. Waterloo on September 4, 2024.
The Lady Rocket volleyball team played home vs. Waterloo on September 4, 2024. The Freshman team played 3 very good sets but unfortunately lost in the 3rd set. They lost the first set 18-21, and won the second set 21-17, but did not have enough left to play the third set and lost 5-15. The JV team did not come out strong in the first set losing 3-25, but they came back fired up in the second set but fell a little short losing 21-25. The Varsity did not come as ready to play as they should have losing the first set 13-25. During the second set, the Lady Rockets played with more enthusiasm, but they were unable to defeat Waterloo, with a final score of 18-25 in the second set. Even though the Lady Rockets did not pull through with the win there were many things they did well throughout the match.
The Lady Rocket volleyball team played away vs. Pinckneyville on September 5, 2024. The Freshman team put up a good fight but unfortunately lost in 2 sets. The first set was a tough one losing 13-25. During the second set, they had an energy boost and were able to stick with them but lost 22-25. The JV team also put up a good fight, especially during the first set but ended up losing 23-25. After the first set, the same energy was not there in the second set so they lost 13-25. The Varsity team had a rough first set losing 13-25, but slowly picked it up in the second set but it was not enough and they lost 19-25. The girls’ volleyball team played the next week against Red Bud on September 10th, 2024.
