A parent of one of the students at Okawville, Sara Schmersahl, was recently diagnosed with lymphoma and leukemia. Since she found out, she has been fighting hard, but here at Okawville, we wanted to show our support. As many people know, hospital visits are costly when it comes to having cancer. So, we at Okawville decided to devise a couple of fundraising ideas to help the family. On Monday, November 25, 2024, Okawville High School sold drinks and candy, and students could pay at least one dollar to have a drink, candy, or a hat. Along with that, students bought $5 breakfasts. The school is also collecting donations anytime for the family. Money and gift cards are welcome too! The family also has a GoFundMe for Sara as well!
