On Tuesday, December 2, the Lady Rockets hosted the Woodlawn Lady Cardinals in their home opener. Junior Varsity started the night off right, beating the Lady Cardinals 44-19. The top scorer for JV was Taylor Statler with 12. Also contributing were Emme Hasheider with 9, Schae Juenger, Lydia Waltrip, and Brooklyn Meier with 5 apiece, Elly Hesker with 4, and Emma Hokeness and Peyton Harris scoring 2 points each. Following, Varsity put up a tough battle against the Lady Cardinals. Woodlawn came out hot with a 9-0 lead, but the Varsity Lady Rockets fought back and outscored the Lady Cardinals in the first 17-12. The second quarter was another close one, with Okawville only outscoring Woodlawn by 2, leaving the score 35-28 heading into the second half, with Okawville leading. Okawville came out of the locker room flat, with Woodlawn outscoring them by 3. In the fourth, Okawville got its spark back, outscoring the Lady Cardinals by 7. Okawville ended the game with a 58-47 win over the Woodlawn Lady Cardinals. The top scorer was Kenley Hackstadt with 15 points. Also contributing were Josephine Schmersahl with 14, Caroline Tepe with 12, Jilien Harre with 8, and Taylor Statler with 7 points.
On Thursday, December 4, the Lady Rockets had their first conference match against the Red Bud Lady Musketeers at Red Bud. Junior Varsity came out hot, beating the Lady Musketeers 66-11. The leading scorers for JV were Statler and Meier, each scoring 10 points. Also contributing were Juenger, Hesker, and Waltrip, each had 8, Harris and Schmersahl each had 6, Hokeness with 4, and Olivia Bergmann, Sophia Going, and Hasheider each had 2 points. Following, the varsity had a tough match-up against the Red Bud Lady Musketeers. In the first quarter, Okawville came out hot, outscoring Red Bud 12-5. In the second quarter, both teams scored 9 points, going into the locker room with a score of 21-14, Okawville leading. The Lady Musketeers were hot coming out of the locker room, outscoring the Varsity Lady Rockets 17-7 in the third. Being outscored lit a fire under Okawville, causing them to outscore Red Bud 21-9 in the fourth quarter. The final score was 49-39, coming out in Okawville’s favor. The leading scorer was Schmersahl with 14 points. Also contributing were Harre with 11, Brynn Rhodes with 9, Tepe with 8 points and 10 rebounds, Hackstadt with 6, and Carly Schmidt with 1 point.
On Saturday, December 6, the Varsity Lady Rockets competed in the SWIC Shootout against the Carrollton Lady Hawks. In the first quarter, Okawville came out strong, outscoring Carrollton 10-6. Going into the locker room at the half, the Varsity Lady Rockets were leading 20-15 over Carrollton. Okawville came out hot in the third quarter, scoring 13 compared to Carrollton’s 4. In the fourth, the Lady Hawks tried to fight back, but they couldn’t secure the win. The final score came out to 46-28, with Okawville taking the win. The leading scorer was Tepe with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Also contributing were Harre with 11, Schmersahl with 10, Rhodes with 6, and Hackstadt with 5 points.
