On January 5, the Lady Rockets traveled to Wesclin for a conference match-up against the Lady Warriors. The Junior Varsity team started the night off right with a win over the Lady Warriors 31-22. The leading scorers were Schae Juenger and Lydia Waltrip, each scoring 9 points. Also contributing was Emma Hokeness with 5, Emme Hasheider had 4, and Sophia Going and Peyton Harris had 2 points each. Continuing the night, the Varsity Lady Rockets came out strong and started the game with a 15-8 lead at the end of the first quarter. Going into the locker room at the half, the Lady Rockets had a 15-point lead over the Lady Warriors. Coming out of the locker room, the Lady Warriors outscored the Lady Rockets by 2, but Okawville still had a 13-point lead over Wesclin. To end the game, the Lady Rockets were outscored by 2 again in the fourth quarter. The final score was 37-26 with Okawville taking the conference win. The leading scorer was Josephine Schmersahl with 11 points. Also contributing was Brynn Rhodes with 8, Kenley Hackstadt with 7, Taylor Statler with 6 and 8 rebounds, and Caroline Tepe with 5 points and 8 rebounds.
On January 8, the Lady Rockets faced their conference rival, the Carlyle Lady Indians. The Junior Varsity Lady Rockets started the night off on a good note, beating the Lady Indians 44-23. The leading scorer was Going with 9. Also scoring were Hasheider with 7, Harris, Hokeness, and Juenger each had 6, Brooklyn Meier had 5, and Elly Hesker had 4 points. In the first quarter, Carlyle outscored Okawville by 4, making the score 14-10. In the second, the Lady Rockets got their spark and scored 11 compared to the Lady Indian’s 7. Okawville kept their spark up in the third quarter, scoring twice as much as Carlyle, with a 6-point lead going into the fourth quarter. Carlyle took over in the fourth, but not enough to win. At the fourth quarter buzzer, both teams had 42 points, causing the game to go into overtime. In the first overtime, each point team scored 6 points, causing the game to go into a second overtime. In the second overtime, Okawville took over and outscored the Lady Indians by 3, causing them to take the 57-54. The leading scorer was Rhodes with an outstanding 29 points, 10 of which came from the free throw line in the two overtimes. Also scoring was Hackstadt with 8, Tepe and Schmersahl with 7, Statler with 4, and Addi Hasheider with 2 points and 9 rebounds.
On January 10, the Varsity Lady Rockets competed at the Central Paws Shootout against the Hardin Calhoun Lady Warriors at Breese Central High School. In the first quarter, Okawville came out strong, outscoring Hardin Calhoun by 4. Going into the lockerroom at the half, the Lady Rockets had a 9-point lead over the Lady Warriors. In the third quarter, the Lady Rockets were on fire, scoring 22 points compared to the Lady Warriors’ 9 points. To finish out the game, Hardin Calhoun outscored Okawville by 1 in the fourth. Although being outscored by 1, Okawville still came out on top with a 53-32 win over Hardin Calhoun. The leading scorer was Hackstadt with 14 points, and she was also named player of the game. Also scoring were Hasheider with 13 points and 11 rebounds, Rhodes with 10, Schmersahl with 8, Lily Helbig and Harris each had 3, and Statler had 2.
