On January 28, the Lady Rockets Freshman/Sophomore team traveled to O’Fallon to play the O’Fallon Lady Panthers. In the first quarter, Okawville came out strong and scored 10 points compared to the Lady Panthers’ 3. In the second quarter, the Lady Rockets scored another 10 points, while the Lady Panthers scored 6 points. Going into the locker room at the half, the Lady Rockets held the lead with a score of 20-9. Coming out of the locker room at the half, the Lady Rockets kept their lead while scoring 12 points compared to O’Fallon’s 5 in the third. To round off the game, the Lady Rockets were outscored by the Lady Panthers 14-9, but that didn’t stop them from claiming the victory. The final score was 41-30, with the Lady Rockets winning. The leading scorer was Emma Hokeness with 12 points. Also contributing were Sophia Going with 11, Lydia Waltrip with 9, Olivia Bergmann with 4, and Peyton Harris and Elly Hesker each scored 2 points.
On January 29, the Lady Rockets went to Chester to play the Lady Yellow Jackets for another conference match-up. The Junior Varsity team started the night off right, taking a 57-17 victory over the Junior Varsity Lady Yellow Jackets. The leading scorer was Harris with 13. Also contributing were Hokeness with 10 points, Going with 9, Schae Juenger and Waltrip each had 6 points, Hesker had 5, Brooklyn Meier had 4, and Emmerson Hasheider and Bergmann each had 2 points. The Varsity Lady Rockets started the game off on a good note, outscoring Chester 10-7. Continuing with the second quarter, the Lady Rockets scored 18 compared to Chester’s 10. Coming out of the locker room after the half, the Lady Rockets came out strong, scoring 4 times as much as Chester did, making the score 44-21 going into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, Okawville was outscored by one. The final score was 50-28, with Okawville coming out with the victory. The leading scorer was Brynn Rhodes with 15 points. Also scoring were Josephine Schmersahl with 11, Jilien Harre with 8, Juenger with 5, Taylor Statler with 4, Kenley Hackstadt with 3, and Lily Helbig had 2 points, and Addison Hasheider had 2 points and 5 rebounds.
On January 31, the Freshman/Sophomore Lady Rockets were back at it, hosting the Nashville Hornettes. In the first quarter, Okawville came out strong, scoring 21 points compared to Nashville’s 14. In the second quarter, Okawville was outscored by Nashville by 6. The score was 25-24, with Okawville still leading at halftime. Coming out of the locker room at halftime, the Lady Rockets were still in a slump, being outscored again in the third quarter by 8. Going into the fourth quarter, Nashville had a 7-point lead over the Lady Rockets. The Lady Rockets got some of their fire back, outscoring Nashville in the fourth quarter 15-12. Although the Lady Rockets outscored the Lady Hornettes in the fourth, Okawville still came up just short of the win; the final score was 49-45, Nashville on top. The leading scorer was Waltrip with 13. Also contributing were Harris, Going, and Hesker, all had 6 each, Emmerson Hasheider and Meier had 5 points apiece, and Hokeness had 4 points.
