On February 2, the Lady Rockets started their packed week off with a challenging conference rival, the Carlyle Lady Indians, at Carlyle. The Junior Varsity team started the night off right with a 46-20 win over the Carlyle Lady Indians. The leading scorer was Sophia Going with 10 points. Also contributing were Emmerson Hasheider with 7, Peyton Harris and Elly Hesker each had 6, Emma Hokeness and Lydia Waltrip each had 4, Olivia Bergmann had 3, and Schae Juenger, Taylor Statler, and Brooklyn Meier had 2 points each. The Varsity Lady Rockets started the first quarter strong, outscoring the Lady Indians by one point. In the second quarter, they kept the energy up, scoring 13 compared to Carlyle’s 6. Coming out of the locker room, the Lady Rockets were outscored 9-6, making the score 30-25, Okawville leading, going into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Lady Rockets scored 5 more than the Lady Indians did, making the final score 42-32, with Okawville taking another conference win. The leading scorer was Brynn Rhodes with 13 points. Also contributing was Jilien Harre with 11, Juenger with 8, and Josephine Schmersahl and Statler each had 5 points. Statler also had 5 rebounds.
On February 4, Okawville hosted a triple-header against the Mater Dei Lady Knights. The Freshman/Sophomore team started off the night with a 35-28 victory over the Lady Knights. The leading scorer was Hokeness with 7. Also contributing were Meier with 6, Hesker and Bergmann each had 5, Harris and Waltrip each had 4, and Going and Lily Gass had 2 each. The JV Lady Rockets continued the good vibes with another win over the Lady Knights; the final score was 40-24. The leading scorers were Going and Harris with 9 apiece. Also contributing were Juenger with 6, Statler with 5, and Hokeness, Waltrip, and Meier each had 3 points. The Varsity Lady Rockets started the game being outscored 16-4 in the first quarter by the Varsity Mater Dei Lady Knights. In the second quarter, Okawville scored 3 to Mater Dei’s 15. The Lady Rockets came out better in the second half, only being outscored by 3 in the third. In the fourth quarter, Okawville scored 4 compared to Mater Dei’s 11. The final score came out to be 54-20, with Mater Dei coming out on top. The leading scorer was Schmersahl with 8 and 5 rebounds. Also contributing were Rhodes with 7, Statler had 3, and Addison Hasheider had 2 points.
On February 5, the Lady Rockets hosted another conference game against the Sparta Lady Bulldogs. There was no JV due to Sparta’s cancellation. The Varsity Lady Rockets started on a good note, scoring 15 to the Lady Bulldog’s 7. In the second quarter, Okawvikle kept up the good energy, scoring 16 compared to Sparta’s 4. The Lady Rockets came out of the locker room strong, outscoring the Lady Bulldogs 21-5. In the fourth quarter, the Lady Rockets were outscored 7-2 by the Lady Bulldogs. Although being outscored in the fourth, the Lady Rockets still secured another conference win with the final score coming out to be 54-23. The leading scorer was Rhodes with 17 points. Also contributing were Schmersahl with 11, Harre and Statler with 6 each, Addi Hasheider with 5 points and 7 rebounds, Hackstadt and Emmerson Hasheider with 3 each, Juenger with 2, and Harris with 1 point.
On February 7, to round out a 4-game week, the Lady Rockets headed to Pinckneyville to play a talented Pinckneyville team. The JV team finished the week going 4-0 with a 37-20 victory over the Lady Panthers. The leading scorer was Waltrip with 9. Also contributing were Statler with 8, Hokeness with 6, Juenger and Meier each had 5, and Going and Harris each had 2 points. The Varsity Lady Rockets started the game, outscoring the Lady Panthers by 1 in the first quarter. Continuing in the second quarter, the Lady Rockets scored 13 to Pinckneyville’s 4. Coming out of the locker room after the half, the Lady fell back, being outscored 19-9 in the third. In the fourth quarter, the Lady Rockets were again outscored 16-8 by the Pinckneyville Lady Panthers. The leading scorer was Schmersahl with 14. Also contributing were Rhodes with 10, Harre with 7, Hackstadt with 6, Statler with 4 points and 9 rebounds, and Addison Hasheider and Juenger each had 2 points.
