On Tuesday, February 17, Sweetheart Week at Okawville High School began. Since there was no school on Monday, the dress-up days started on Tuesday. The first dress-up day was pajama day; students enjoyed wearing their pajamas to school and staying comfy all day! The next dress-up day on Wednesday, the 18th, was Hawaiian day. Many students and staff enjoyed walking around with their Hawaiian shirts and Hawaiian leis. On Thursday, the 19th, the dress-up day was Character Day, or you could wear your Fight for Funk T-Shirt to help support Mrs. Funk. Students loved supporting Mrs. Funk and dressing up like their favorite characters. A few highlights were Eva Tooley, who dressed up as Daphne Blake from Scooby Doo, and Eric Segelhorst, who dressed up as Luigi from Mario and Luigi. On Friday, students wore traditional Valentine’s Day colors such as red, pink, and white.
On Saturday, February 21, the Spanish Club put on a “Night in Rio” inspired Sweetheart Dance for Okawville High School. The following students and their escorts ran for Sweetheart Queen: Brecklyn Rennegarbe and her escort, Jack Schuetz; Jaelyn Going and her escort, Ryker Obermeier; Carly Schmidt and her escort, Amari Leatherwood; Kate Borrenpohl and her escort, Lane Borrenpohl; Madisyn Rennegarbe and her escort, Bennett Schuetz; Abby Brennfleck and her escort, Landen Shubert; Rylan Senior and her escort, Braxton Rennegarbe; Lillian Helbig and her escort, Gabe Charles; Eva Tooley and her escort, Judah Hurst.
